Fake NASA Images? NO! A Simple Test You Can Perform

beachballSeen the two NASA photos of Earth with differing land mass sizes?
SDHoS was asked a question about the apparent differences in land mass size between two photos of the Earth, one from 1978 and the other from 2012.
The apparent differences were used by the flat earth crowd and various other conspiracy theorists to support the claim that the photos were faked. Could this be true???

Reader’s Request: Gravity Discussion

GPB_circling_earthReader’s request from peterthemasterfoiler:

“Not conspiracy merely theory or misunderstanding. I was taught gravity was mass pulling against mass. My hypothesis is that it is the electrons pulling at the protons of the other object even though they are already bonded.”

Thanks peterthemasterfoiler, we’ll do our best to explain it!

Robert DeNiro: Why He Wants Anti-Vax Film Shown

UPDATE: De Niro Reverses Position on ‘Vaxxed’

680px-Robert_De_Niro_TFF_2011_ShankboneUpdate: Robert De Niro has reversed his position on screening of the film ‘Vaxxed’, stating:

“My intent in screening this film was to provide an opportunity for conversation around an issue that is deeply personal to me and my family. But after reviewing it over the past few days with the Tribeca Film Festival team and others from the scientific community, we do not believe it contributes to or furthers the discussion I had hoped for.”

We fully understand Mr. De Niro’s desire to ensure that discussions on autism continue in both the public and scientific arena. We are equally pleased that he has decided that a movie produced by a fraud is not the best way to do so.

Original Story:

Robert De Niro, a co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, released a statement Friday on the film festival’s Facebook page in which he explains why he wants “Vaxxed” to be shown.

“Grace and I have a child with autism and we believe it is critical that all of the issues surrounding the causes of autism be openly discussed and examined. In the 15 years since the Tribeca Film Festival was founded, I have never asked for a film to be screened or gotten involved in the programming. However this is very personal to me and my family and I want there to be a discussion, which is why we will be screening “Vaxxed.” I am not personally endorsing the film, nor am I anti-vaccination; I am only providing the opportunity for a conversation around the issue.”

Homeopathy… Well, It Couldn’t Hurt, Right?

The National Center for Complimentary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) is one of the 27 institutes and centers that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH) within the Department of Health and Human Services of the federal government of the United States. The following is from the NCCIH [1]:

The alternative medical system of homeopathy was developed in Germany at the end of the 18th century. Supporters of homeopathy point to two unconventional theories: “like cures like”—the notion that a disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people; and “law of minimum dose”—the notion that the lower the dose of the medication, the greater its effectiveness. Many homeopathic remedies are so diluted that no molecules of the original substance remain.

Reader’s Request: Nibiru, the Phantom Planet, Coming to Destroy Us?

Lance Oleviri made the following request:

I would love to see an in depth discussion about Nibiru. So many people truly believe in this bunk, phantom planet, and trying to convince people, with science, is frustrating. I think you would do a great job.

We’ll do our best, Lance.
